Amazon has begun device-level blocks on Fire TV devices, and the Firestick warning message is now appearing in more regions. After months of rumours, early tests, and partial enforcement, the crackdown is officially rolling out. As a result, Firestick users are starting to see a new on-screen alert confirming when an app has been flagged.
As of the latest update, Amazon has now moved to Stage 2 enforcement, meaning some apps are fully blocked from opening, even after reinstalling.
Amazon has now removed the “Launch Anyway” option for certain apps. Once an app reaches Stage 2, it cannot be opened at all, confirming this is now an active device-level block.

If you own a Firestick, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV Smart TV, this enforcement affects how certain apps behave. The Firestick warning message is real; it is part of a staged rollout and includes a temporary launch window before the app becomes permanently blocked. Because of this, users should understand what the warning means and how the new 2-stage system works.

Below is the exact warning, how the block functions, what it means for your apps, and the complete list of apps currently reported as blocked.
What the Firestick Warning Message Looks Like
When a Fire TV app has been flagged, users now see the following message:
Several major outlets have confirmed Amazon’s enforcement, including:
Stage 1 Behaviour (Earlier Rollout)
Initially, users were given two options:
- Launch Anyway (temporary access)
- Uninstall (removes the app immediately)
This confirmed Amazon’s 2-stage block system.
What the Warning Looks Like in Stage 2
In Stage 2, the warning screen has changed:
- Launch Anyway has been removed
- Only Uninstall and Dismiss are shown
Pressing Dismiss simply closes the message — the app does not open. Once an app reaches this stage, it is fully blocked at the device level.
Stage 1 → Stage 2: How the Block Works
Amazon’s new enforcement system does not disable flagged apps instantly. Instead, the process happens in two stages:
Stage 1 — Warning Window (Temporary Access)
- You can still open the flagged app using Launch Anyway
- The app’s home-screen tile will show a small exclamation mark
- This confirms the Firestick warning message has been triggered
Stage 2 — Full Block (No Access)
- Launch anyway disappears
- The app cannot be opened at all
- Reinstalling the app does not restore access
📌 Important:
Amazon has not confirmed how long the delay is between Stage 1 and Stage 2. Because this is a rolling enforcement, timing varies by region, app, and device.
This aligns with broader industry movement — such as Google moving toward verified sideloading by 2026. Read more on that here: 👉 Google Bans Sideloading on Android TV & Google TV by 2026.

Reinstalling the App Does NOT Reset the Block
Many users have tried uninstalling and reinstalling affected apps. Unfortunately, this does not reset the warning window.
Once Amazon recognises an app, it is blocked immediately, even on a fresh install. This strongly suggests Amazon is identifying apps by their internal package name, not the version you install or where it came from.
This Is NOT the Same as Earlier “Malicious App” Firestick Warning Messages
Earlier this year, some Firestick users saw messages claiming certain apps were “potentially dangerous.” Those warnings came from Amazon’s security scanning system and were not tied to licensing.
This new warning is different because it:
- Directly references unlicensed content
- Matches enforcement related to ACE (Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment)
- Reflects content protection, not malware protection
Because of this distinction, apps flagged by the new Firestick warning message are being targeted for content-related reasons, not security issues.
Full List of Apps Currently Reported as Blocked
Based on reports from users, community forums, and our own tests, the following apps have shown the new Fire TV warning:
Confirmed Blocked Apps

If you’ve noticed an app not on this list, let us know by leaving a comment below.
This list is for reporting only and reflects user-submitted information. It does not endorse or encourage any app. Always access content legally.
Which Apps Are NOT Being Targeted
Amazon is not blocking general media players.
Apps such as Kodi, Plex, Jellyfin, and TiviMate are not affected, because they do not provide content themselves. They only play media that the user adds or configures manually.
This distinction matches all reports seen so far.
How to Tell If an App Has Been Flagged
Look for these signs:
1. Exclamation mark on the app tile
A small “!” appears in the corner of the icon.
2. Warning message opens when you launch the app
This confirms the app is flagged.
3. App stops launching entirely
This confirms Stage 2 enforcement.

Will a VPN Fix This Firestick Warning Message?
No. A VPN cannot bypass a device-level block because the restriction is implemented inside Fire OS, not your network.
But if you want privacy or travel-based region switching, here are legitimate guides:

But again — VPNs do not unblock apps that Amazon has disabled.
What Should You Do Now?
If you rely mainly on official streaming apps, nothing changes.
However, if an app you use is flagged:
- Stage 1: You may still have temporary access
- Stage 2: The app is fully blocked and cannot be opened
Avoid replacing it with unknown APKs and consider legal alternatives in the Appstore

Frequently Asked Questions
The message says: “Warning – One or more apps on your device have been identified as using or providing access to unlicenced content, including this app, and will be disabled.”
Yes. This is a 2-stage block. First you get a warning with temporary access, then a full block.
Currently unknown. Amazon has not provided a timeline.
No. The block is enforced on the device, not by your internet provider.

Final Thoughts
This is the most significant enforcement change Amazon has made to Fire TV in years. With Stage 2 now confirmed, this is no longer just a warning system, it is an active block.
More apps and regions are expected to be affected as the rollout continues.
We will continue tracking reports across all Fire TV models.

Hi Tanya,
After watching on YouTube I checked your site.
I have 2 firesticks using Downloader to access iptv. Both of mine work fine at the moment, but my daughters stick got blocked and the new one she bought, has features of downloader missing, such as you cannot disable unallowed apps to let it actually run iptv.
My friend in work is the same, but his stick is the original and just got a block on it, again using Downloader. Lastly, on mine they are buffering quite a bit, which I never had any issues with. Hope this info helps.
Hi. If your daughter has recently purchased a new Firestick, it could be that she has the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select model. If that is the case, then those Firestick models do not allow sideloading as mentioned in this video: ⚠️ $40 4K Streamer is a TRAP! The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is a SCAM 😱.
However, if she does not have a Select model, the developer options to allow apps from unknown sources could just be hidden. In that case, it is simple to reveal them using the trick in this video: 🚨 Developer Options MISSING?! How to Unlock Them on Your Firestick NOW! 🔓.
For buffering issues, please take a look at our guide: Fix Streaming Lag & Buffering on Fire TV Devices (2025 Guide).
Happy Saturday. My firestick 4k max is blocking friendly tv downloaded from Amazon’s appstore. What the heck? I don’t understand. Can you help me?
Hi. Do you get the exact warning message displayed on your screen as shown in this post?
Thanx for the updates
The app Filmplus just had a warning, but not on the list.
Thanks for the update! I have now added FilmPlus to the list.
